Lost Fan? Middlefan? It's All Gravy

Tonight we've got something special on The Middlecast for both Lost fans and Middleman fans. It's a special guest. Yes. Special. Special.... I wish I could think of another word to highlight the special-ness of this guest without using the word special. I think special is the norm. People just expect the guest to be special, even if they aren't. But this one is, making the guest a proper special guest.

This guest, who will be joining us tonight at 9pm EST on TalkShoe for The Middlecast has written for both The Middleman and Lost. So fans of both shows are encouraged to join.

The Middlecast Episode 4

Listen in as we discuss the fourth episode of The Middleman: "The Manicoid Teleportation Conundrum." Jamie sat out for this one, but we were joined by our first live caller which was cool. Also, last week we got our first comment about the podcast from none other than Javier Grillo-Marxuach (creator of The Middleman) correcting us (me) on the mistakes we (I) made with the episode title. Now that we have received his comment regarding the podcast we can confirm at least one person is listening to it.

To subscribe check out the blue bar on the right side of the page, and to email us use the contact link there. Emails about anything Middleman related are welcomed! So send something in.

Also check out all the info on how to join live next week. Even if you don't want to call in you can listen and chat with us live as we are recording the show.

"Lost" Podcast Roundup

Here's an update on some recent podcasts you should check out. And some info on upcoming podcasts.

  • The Hyrdacooler is still recording regularly. They are filling time during the hiatus re-watching and analyzing Lost starting in Season 1. They just recorded an episode discussing Walkabout. Make sure to check out their page on TalkShoe for upcoming episode info and the show's archive. Here's the episode:

    Download it (MP3)

  • The GSPN Lost Podcast recently interviewed Bonnie Covel of lost.about.com which is definitely worth a listen. Bonnie is extremley knowledgeable about the show and covering Lost is her day job.

    Download it (MP3)

  • Clay and Chris of The Dharma Dummies do a character analysis of John Locke which should be a good listen for any fans of Locke. These are the same guys who bring their grandmothers on to the podcast occasionally, which I love.

    Download it (MP3)

  • As for upcoming shows, The Lost Flashbacks is changing nights from Monday back to Thursday (or that's what it seems like for now.) They are all set to record a new show tonight, live on TalkShoe at 9pm EST. Be sure to join.

  • The Transmission is preparing to record a podcast reviewing Season 4. They are looking for people to call in and discuss the season. Check it out.

  • The Lost Community Book Club has released their summer and fall reading list. All you book worms will love this. And it will give you a chance to geek out about both Lost and your reading habits. View the list then tune into their podcasts.

Expanded Coverage & The Middlecast

As you may have noticed I've begun posting about ABC Family's The Middleman. I'll be covering audio elements featured on the show on the blog, and am happy to announce that I am recording the very first Middleman-based podcast! (at least as far as I can tell) The first episode has been recorded, and is embedded in this post. The second (and real first) episode will be live, on Talkshoe, this Monday evening immediately after the show airs. Join me, my co-host for the first episode (Jamie of Lost Causes), and (hopefully) others in a group discussion about the pilot episode at 9pm EST, June 16th (just after The Middleman premieres).

To join live hit up The Middlecast page on TalkShoe. Hope to see you there!

Geeky Tom Explains Jim Robinson Joke

The guys on Sky One's Lost Initiative Podcast always call Widmore Jim Robinson. While I didn't know who Jim Robinson was, I always assumed it was some character that Alan Dale played. Geeky Tom elaborates.
I have heard that a few people haven’t been getting the whole “Jim Robinson” thing. The reason we all joke on the podcast about Alan Dale/Charles Widmore being Jim Robinson is because when we were younger he was a character on an Australian soap called Neighbours. Pretty much everyone in the UK grew up watching it, well me Iain and Paul obviously did, hence why we find it so amusing.

So to the people that think we have absolutely no idea what we are talking about, I say this: Half that time you are correct, but I’m afraid on this occasion we are just messing around. We know that he’s really called Charles Widmore, bloody hell, I never thought I would have to explain this one. lol

Well folks, it's over. I'm sure all of you have plenty to say about the finale of Season 4, There's No Place Like Home. You are not alone. The podcast community has been buzzing the past couple of days. Here is a large selection of initial reaction podcasts discussing There's No Place Like Home:

Obviously this is just a sampling of the many podcasts discussing the finale, but I felt this would be enough to hold people over until deeper analysis of the episode starts coming in next week.
